K-Meleon Wechselbalg builds
K-Meleon is an extremely fast, customizable, lightweight web browser based on the Gecko layout engine developed by Mozilla which is also used by Firefox.
Almost everything in this browser can be set by your hands, plus a lot of extra functionality is available on the K-Meleon website.In the period I used Windows XP, I was an active member of the K-Meleon community and with some other members we made an unofficial K-M 0.8.2+ release, privately nicknamed "Wechselbalg", a K-Meleon 0.8.2 based on the Mozilla test release: 1.8a2. The initial release date of these builds was September 2004. For more information about this release, download the release information.
For these K-Meleon builds the latest Visual-Studio dll-files are needed, which can be installed by the dll-installer available on this page. Be sure you have installed these dll-files before you start the installation of the browser itself!!
There are five translations available for K-Meleon. English is ofcourse the standard language. The Simple-Chinese translation is very complete. Also the plugins are translated and everything should be in chinese. The Dutch, French and German translations are using the English plugins, further menues, toolbars etc... are translated.
As a last note:
These builds are outdated, based on a Mozilla test-release and made years ago by a small group of enthusiastic KMeleon users. Although there is almost sure a security risk and newer releases of KMeleon are more sophisticated, you are free to try these builds and see what nice and fast browser we made. Some people even say it is the fastest K-Meleon build ever...
